There is a line down the middle of the bathroom
that no one drew and everyone obeys.
On my side, the light is kind. It forgives
the shape of me in the mirror before I do.
On the other side, the walls remember
things I have not told anyone —
not the towel, not the sink, not the boy
standing so still he might be furniture.
