There is a door in the blue room
that only opens one way,
and I have been on the wrong side of it
long enough to learn its grain.
Outside, a green light keeps its promise
to no one in particular.
It turns, and turns, and turns,
and nobody drives through.
When I am let out I will not run.
I will stand in the green a while
and let it colour my hands
until someone calls me home.
